  • 1 pound Mussels, cleaned Discard any that do not open during cooking.
Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Butter Can substitute with olive oil.
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh is ideal.
  • 1 cup White wine Use a wine you enjoy drinking.
  • 1 cup Heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or coconut cream.
Finishing Touches
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice Fresh preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon zest Fresh preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped Can substitute with basil or cilantro.
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.

Method
 

Steps
  1. Clean the mussels by rinsing under cold water and scrubbing the shells. Discard any that do not open.
  2. Prepare the shrimp by peeling and deveining if necessary, rinsing, and patting dry.
  3. Melt butter in a large skillet and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add white wine and bring to a simmer, allowing it to reduce for about 3 minutes.
  5. Add cleaned mussels to the skillet, cover, and steam for about 5 minutes until shells open.
  6. Gently fold in shrimp and cook for 3-4 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque.
  7. Lower heat, stir in heavy cream, and simmer until sauce thickens, about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, zest, parsley, salt, and pepper.
