Step-by-Step Instructions for Italian Meatloaf
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, fresh basil, parsley, ½ cup of pasta sauce, ½ cup of shredded mozzarella, and the egg.
  3. Shape the seasoned meat mixture into a loaf approximately 1 inch thick and place it on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until juices bubble around the edges and the top browns slightly.
  5. Spread the remaining ½ cup of pasta sauce over the top of the loaf and sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese generously.
  6. Return the meatloaf to the oven for an additional 10 minutes, checking that internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C).
