Step-by-Step Instructions for Italian Meatloaf
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, fresh basil, parsley, ½ cup of pasta sauce, ½ cup of shredded mozzarella, and the egg.
- Shape the seasoned meat mixture into a loaf approximately 1 inch thick and place it on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until juices bubble around the edges and the top browns slightly.
- Spread the remaining ½ cup of pasta sauce over the top of the loaf and sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese generously.
- Return the meatloaf to the oven for an additional 10 minutes, checking that internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C).
