Cooking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your workspace.
- In a large skillet, combine the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook for 8–10 minutes, breaking up the meat as it browns.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until onion becomes translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, and half of the grated Parmesan.
- Spread meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, layer with lasagna noodles, and add ricotta mixture.
- Repeat layering with remaining meat sauce and noodles. Finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before serving. Optionally, garnish with parsley.
