Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat, then add diced yellow onion. Sauté for about 10 minutes, until tender and translucent.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, whole milk, and all the seasonings, including sautéed onions. Mix until just combined.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a lined baking sheet and shape it into a loaf form, about 2 inches thick.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup with brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Spread the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Remove foil in the last 10-15 minutes for caramelization.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
