Equipment

  • oven
  • Baking tray
  • Greaseproof Paper
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • wire rack

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  2. Unroll the ready-rolled puff pastry on the prepared baking tray and score the pastry into thirds along its length, leaving the center section clear for filling.
  3. Cut diagonal strips into the outer thirds of the pastry, about 3/4–1 inch wide.
  4. Remove the small triangle of pastry at the base of the center section to create space for the filling.
  5. Spoon the lemon curd into the center section and mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cornflour until smooth, then spread over the lemon curd.
  6. Fold the diagonal strips of pastry over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided effect.
  7. Brush the braid with the beaten egg and bake for 17-22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven, cool on a wire rack for about 30 minutes, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
