Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a Bundt pan or 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Cream softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Fold in the mashed sweet potatoes until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, alternating with milk or buttermilk.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 55 minutes.
  8. Prepare the butter glaze by combining butter, sugar, and water in a saucepan until smooth.
  9. Evenly pour butter glaze over warm cake and let it soak in before cooling.
