  • 250 g Mushrooms Cremini recommended for earthy flavor.
For the Gravy
  • 50 g Plain Flour Gluten-free flour can be substituted.
  • 1 can Guinness Stout Can be replaced with beef broth.
  • 500 ml Beef Stock Homemade stock is preferable.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Can use soy sauce as an alternative.
For the Crust
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Store-bought or homemade.

Method
 

Step-wise Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Brown the beef in a pot for about 5-7 minutes and set aside.
  3. Sauté onions, carrots, and celery for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir for about 2 minutes.
  5. Slowly add Guinness stout and beef stock, bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms; return beef to pot and simmer for 1 hour.
  7. Remove from heat and let the filling cool for about 10 minutes.
  8. Transfer the filling to a pie dish, roll out puff pastry and cover the filling, crimp edges and vent.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
